Gina D’s Kids Club® is a family friendly program targeting pre-school children ages two through six. The show represents an attractive alternative to current programming because Gina D’s Kids Club is hosted by a positive adult female role model, who connects with her young viewers in the same manner that children relate to a young teacher. Each show concludes with Gina D® writing a letter to her Grandmother to review the educational highlights of the day’s events

at the clubhouse. The major premise of Gina D’s Kids Club is establishing and reinforcing positive values and behaviors through original songs and character performances that viewing children will choose to adopt and imitate. Learning Goal Outlines

Gina D’s Kids Club programs contain prosocial content. The term “prosocial” generally refers to actions that society deems appropriate, decent, and beneficial.

Scripts are designed to promote actions that support interpersonal skills such as helping others, negotiation, cooperation, sharing and tolerance. Gina D and her whimsical clubhouse cast demonstrate these positive attributes to a culturally diverse group of children. Each episode has a theme designed to develop self-image, social, math, and reading skills in young children, and an ending (Gina D’s letter to Grandma) that reinforces those educational objectives. Content is

lively and fun, produced with state of the art computer animation and original, positive songs and characters. Program scripts are reviewed by Professor Mary Beth Leidman, Ed.D., Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Gina D’s Kid’s Club is designed and produced with the following goals:

• Provide positive basic concepts and age-appropriate skills for children ages 2 through 6.

• Provide children with a safe arena in which to explore the contexts and consequences of their actions with others.

• Provide action, suspense, and uncertainty in order to generate laughter and excitement, rather than capturing attention with aggression or violence.

• Create program themes that have relevance to a child’s life.

-Validate feelings and encourage self-worth.

• Use diverse populations of characters and children, not stereotypes.

• Maintain appropriate levels of humor to gain and retain attention in such a way that it does not distract from the message or main theme.

• Convey the central theme at the child’s level without talking down, or sugar coating messages.
